Welcome to the Lair of the Sonic Infidel
¿
I've been making music since fifth grade, when I started playing the drums. I was pretty awful back then, and undoubtedly, to some people, I still am. I finally got a drum set, a Ludwig 5-piece set, which I still use today, for my birthday in 1999, and began playing music with Justin Smith, Brad Thomas, and Adam Lindstrom. Those were the days. It was a mixture of metal and jazz, and it sounded pretty rough, but we had fun.
That didn't last very long. We split up and went our separate ways (I'm not really sure why), and I got pretty sick of sitting around playing the drums without any accompaniment. At work one day (back when Neimann Market was IGA), Nathan Boyles mentioned to me that he had this program called Acid Pro that allowed you to make music on your computer out of loops. I was instantly hooked. It consumed much of my time in high school, perhaps explaining why I never got into partying and such, and I learned a lot about music production, sound engineering, and even the physics of sound. It truly is amazing, by the way.
Eventually, making music out of other people's loops began to bother me. It just didn't seem like my music. I began searching for a way to make music on my computer without using someone else's loops. That's when I discovered Fruity Loops. It gives a huge degree of musical freedom, incorporating nearly everything you could want for music production in one program. Since then, I've lost two good batches of work to computer crashes, and I've gotten a new computer. I've also learned a ton more about computers and using Fruity, and I finally feel comfortable enough with some of my work to let others hear it. I still play the drums, and I play the guitar with a sort of half-ass commitment. I also just picked up the harmonica, though It's sort of tough to play.
